TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Damri’s Managing Director Agus S. Subrata lamented the news about the Transportation Ministry’s intention to tender bus lines at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
“Why tender? It’s unnecessary. We’re ready,” Agus said on Thursday, January 23, 2014.
He said that, as a military area, Halim Airport should not become too open for other bus operators to enter. He worried that other bus operators might disturb the condition around Halim in the future. “Halim is a military area, so don’t make it too open,” he said.
So far, he said, Damri has provided 44 buses, part of last year’s procurement of 73 buses worth Rp28 billion. “Actually, they were meant for other regions but were pulled to Halim because of urgency. But what will happen to our investment if [the tender goes through]?”
Damri’s business director Samardi Usman said that at Halim Airport, Damri only transports 100-120 passengers a day. “We’re still at break-even point. No loss, no profit,” he said.
