TEMPO.CO, Kabul - Three personnel members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), who were joined in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), had a flight accident in eastern Afghanistan on Friday, January 10, 2014. A source from ISAF said the incident is still under investigation.
“Two ISAF service members and one civilian died following an aircraft mishap in eastern Afghanistan today,” said ISAF in a statement reported by Xinhua. ISAF gave no detailed information regarding the nationalities of the three victims.
The incident is the first aircraft misfortune of the coalition force this year. Last year, at least 19 coalition soldiers died in a plane crash in Afghanistan. The accident killed four NATO soldiers led by the United States.
Meanwhile, almost 160 foreign soldiers died in the Middle Eastern country last year, according to Xinhua. Currently there are 84 thousand NATO troops in Afghanistan. The number has decreased from 2010, which was 130 thousand.
