LCGC Sales Continues Despite Negative Responses

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Despite the negative responses, Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) has proven to booked a remarkable number of sales. LCGC's affordable price had triggered a high consumption demand by the urban society.

Daihatsu Ayla, for example, was reported to have been sold by as much as 9,306 units up to October 2013. The number equals to 6.04 percent of Astra Daihatsu's selling in Januari to Oktober period, which reaches up to 154,156 units. Meanwhile, Toyota Agya has sold over 8,967 units on October 2013.

LCGC variants have been dominated by Toyota Agya dan Daihatsu Ayla. Other LCGCs like the Datsun GO and Suzuki Wagon R are yet to make their mark in the market. The Chirman of the Indonesia Motorized Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo) Sudirman Maman Rusdi, estimated that by the end of 2013, there will be over 30,000 LCGC units sold. The number equals to 2.7 percent of the national vehicle market that reaches 1.1 million units.
