TEMPO.CO, Alaska – An ice chunk in the Yukon river, Alaska, have started to melt down on Wednesday, May 29, and has forced local resident to take refuge. Aerial survey reported that the ice chunk has broken-off and blocked the 30-mile river.
Currently, no count casualties have been reported, but most of the residents lost their homes, turning the town into a ghost town with no electricity, sanitation, and communication line.
Kevin Ray, a local resident, said that the flood was not the first for them, but this time, the water rose so quickly, even flooding houses that were built on stilts. The disaster has forced the city administration to declare a state of emergency.
