TEMPO.CO, Kudus - Megawati Sukarnoputri, Chair of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is playing an active role in helping her party's candidate win the governor's race in Central Java. Along with Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo--better known as Jokowi, Megawati Sukarnoputri plans to visit 35 cities or 10 electoral districts.
In addition to Jokowi, Mega will be accompanied by Banten Deputy Governor Rano Karno, PDIP DPP Chair Puan Maharani, and PDIP Secretary General Tjahjo Kumolo.
The party will help campaign for House of Representatives members Ganjar Pranowo and Purbalingga district head Heru Sujatmoko. Ganjar and Heru are facing strong challenges from the other candidates, including Central Java's current Governor Bibit Waluyo and his partner Sujidono Sastroatmojo. Another couple running for the governor's office is Central Java Regional Secretary Hadi Prabowo and Don Murdono, supported by the Prosperity and Justice Party (PKS).
