TEMPO.CO, Manchester – Manchester City congratulated its neighbor, Manchester United, for winning Premier league season 2012/2013, as quoted by City’s Twitter Account on Tuesday, April 23.
MU went on to become this year’s champion after crushing Aston Villa 3 – 0 in Old Trafford. The victory secured United’s 86 points, 16 points ahead of City, making the Red Devils firm on top of the league with only five remaining matches.
City, however, had the chance to delay United’s celebration when facing Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Unfortunatelly, Hotspur managed to defeat City 3-1, paving the way for United’s twentieth title.
City failed to defend its title by having more draws and loses than MU. From 33 matches, City had eight draws and five loses. "They deserve the title because we have lost so many points in games we did not deserve to lose," said Roberto Mancini, City’s coach.
