TEMPO.CO, Tehran - At least 40 people are presumed to have been killed in Iran after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country's southeast, near the Pakistan border.
According to the US Meteorology and Geophysics Survey Center, the epicenter was around 86 kilometers east of Khash at a depth of 15 kilometers.
Al-Jazeera reported from Islamabad that the earthquake was felt all the way in Karachi and Balochistan. "Many buildings in Karachi are being vacated," the report said. So far, there has been no report on the exact number of casualties.
