TEMPO.CO, Banda Aceh - Eighty Rohingya refugees from Myanmar were stranded in Pulo Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam on Sunday, April 7. Among the refugees were women and five children.
Chief of Pulo Aceh Sub-District, Abdussamad, told Tempo that when the refugees were found in the waters of Pulo Aceh, they were in poor condition, dehydrated and exhausted. Local fishermen helped bring their boat to shore.
"The refugees are being accommodated at the Pulo Aceh Police Office," he said.
Locals and the police helped provide food to the Rohingya refugees as well as donating medicine for those who were very weak.
As of Sunday night, he said, people were still flocking to bring food to the refugees who were forced to flee their country.
