According to Wirajuda, should the diplomacy carried out by the Indonesian delegation to Sweden end up in weakening the coordination of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM), this would only be considered as a facility.
Were not talking about any deadline. What is most important are the operations in the field. If the joint operation runs smoothly, diplomacy steps with Sweden can be ignored, Wirajuda told reporters in Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon (11/6).
Still, Wirajuda said, he is yet to decide the next measure for diplomatic settlement of the Aceh matter.
The Indonesian Department of Foreign Affairs still awaits for an official explanation from the Indonesian delegation to Sweden, led by special envoy Ali Alatas.
According to Wirajuda, the Sweden government has limited authority with their law enforcers.
Therefore, they are yet to promise anything up to now.
They said that theyre trying to bring new proof here. But, they should not only talk about this with the government. They should also try to talk this out with law enforcer institutions, stated Wirajuda.
Wirajuda added that the delegation, headed by Alatas, has met with Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Anna Lindh, the Swedish Minister of Justice and the Swedish Attorney Generals Office (AGO).
This was also supported by the National Police and the Indonesian State Intelligence Agency (BIN), that made contact with the Swedish police and Swedish intelligence agency.
According to Wirajuda, under the Swedish system, the government, police and AGO can do nothing as regards GAM members residing in Sweden as each institution stands independently.
