TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Light Rail Transit or LRT Jabodebek, operated by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has transported 15.2 million passengers since its public launch on August 28, 2023.
“As of July, passenger numbers reach 15.2 million, with the highest frequency on the Dukuh Atas-Jatimulya line,” said LRT Executive President Mochammad Purnomosidi at a media gathering event in Semarang on Thursday evening, August 8, 2024.
He highlighted that July 2024 saw a record-breaking monthly passenger totaling 2 million. “So far, the highest passenger frequency is on the Bekasi Line, between Jatimulya and Dukuh Atas,” he added.
The LRT, Purnomosidi affirmed, is committed to improving its services further. The rising trend in passenger numbers is a testament to the public’s enthusiasm for using mass transportation.
To enhance services, the LRT is adding 14 more trips daily, increasing the total to 350. The last departure from Dukuh Atas will be at 22:30 Jakarta time. “This will shorten wait times and extend operating hours to accommodate commuters,” he said.
“We are surprised that the LRT passengers reach 77,000 on weekdays and 35,000-37,000 on weekends. We see that this is transportation for workers around Kuningan and Sudirman,” he said.
The LRT Jabodebek operates on two lines: the Cibubur Line, spanning 24.3 kilometers with 12 stops between Harjamukti Station in Depok and Dukuh Atas Station; and the Bekasi Line, covering 27.3 kilometers with 14 stops between Jati Mulya Station and Dukuh Atas Station.
