There are countries with the highest crime rates in the world that reflect various challenges such as political instability, poor economy, and other rampant crimes.

According to the Global Organization Crime Index, here are the 10 countries with the highest crime rates in the world:

1. Myanmar

The country with the highest crime rate in the world is Myanmar. This Southeast Asian country has a high crime index of 8.15. 

Myanmar has a vast criminal market, including human trafficking and smuggling as well as the arms trade. 

Not only that, the country nicknamed the Land of Gold has many other criminal records such as flora and fauna crimes to financial crimes.

2. Colombia

Colombia is in second place with a crime rate that differs only slightly from Myanmar, at 7.75. This figure is up 0.09 from the previous year. 

Many criminal records that occur in Colombia are drug trafficking, to drug smuggling. The country is even dubbed as one of the biggest drug dealers in the world.

3. Mexico

Mexico is one of the countries in North America that occupies the third position of the country with the highest crime rate in the world. 

The crime rate in Mexico reaches 7.57. This country has recorded many criminal cases of human smuggling, drug trafficking, and arms trafficking.

4. Paraguay

The fourth highest crime country in the world is Paraguay with a crime rate of 7.52, up 0.82 from the previous year. 

The country faces various crime challenges such as a large number of criminal actors with a score of 8.30.

5. Republic of Congo

The Republic of Congo is a country that borders Central Africa and South Sudan. 

The country's crime score stands at 7.35. This figure is down 0.40 from before. Despite the decline, the Republic of Congo still recorded a high score of 8.50 for criminals.

6. Nigeria

In sixth place is Nigeria with a crime rate of 7.18. Nigeria is known as one of the countries with the highest rate of human trafficking, especially of women and children.

7. South Africa

South Africa also faces a high crime rate at 7.18. This is an increase of 0.56 from the previous year.

8. Iraq

After years of conflict, Iraq still faces major challenges in controlling organized crime.

9. Afghanistan

Afghanistan is the world's largest opium producer and a major destination for international human trafficking.

10. Lebanon

Another country that is included in the list of 10 countries with the highest crime rate in the world is Lebanon. 

The crime rate in this country is 7.10 with major crimes such as human trafficking targeting foreign nationals and illegal arms trade.
