TEMPO.CO, Jakarta President Joko Widodo or Jokowi instructed Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto to send aid to Gaza, the president-elect said on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Prabowo met Jokowi at the Presidential Palace today to report the results of his working visit to Singapore.

"In the case of Gaza, I reported (the results of the visit) to President (Jokowi) and he was quite supportive, he gave me instructions, we are ready to send hospitals, send health workers (to Gaza)," Prabowo told reporters after the meeting.

Prabowo Subianto said that Indonesia would work with partners, especially Middle Eastern countries such as the United Arab Emirates which already operates a hospital in Gaza. "He then assigned me to Jordan to attend the Summit on the issues of Gaza and to stop by Saudi Arabia," said Prabowo.

Jokowi instructed Prabowo to deliver aid to Gaza as the barrage of Israeli attacks continued.

Previously, the Israeli military confirmed that they deliberately targeted a UNRWA school sheltering displaced Palestinians in Nuseirat. Women and children were among the dead. The Israeli military claimed it was targeting Hamas fighters in the building. The IDF announced the attack was coordinated among the Air Force, intelligence, and Shin Bet.

Al Mayadeen’s correspondent said the occupation fighter jets committed this massacre after midnight, noting that the bombed al-Sardi School shelters displaced Palestinians.

The Gaza government media office issued a statement following the bombing of the school, stating that "Israeli occupation and the US administration fully responsible for the crimes against humanity committed against Palestinians in Gaza."

The number of Palestinians killed in Gaza as a result of Israel's genocidal war since October 7 has now reached 36,586, in addition to the 83,074 people injured, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Wednesday in its daily report.
