Ambary, confirmed that his side had accompanied and provided a translator for 24 Indonesian citizens who were arrested by Saudi Arabian security authorities in Medina on May 28, 2024. They were arrested during the miqat in Bir Ali because of lacking hajj visas.
“The 24 Indonesian citizens were arrested because they were suspected of forging other people's hajj visas during the inspection, although they were recorded to have entered Saudi with a Syakhsiyah pilgrimage visa. They consist of 22 pilgrims and two coordinators,” Yusron told Tempo on Friday, May 31.
