2024 Hajj: 6 AP II Airports Anticipate Returning Indonesian Pilgrims

TEMPO.CO, JakartaA total of six Hajj debarkation airports managed by Angkasa Pura II have started welcoming the returning Hajj pilgrims from the Holy Land. "The six airports are slated to serve 231 arrivals of the Hajj pilgrims,” said interim SPV of Corporate Secretary of Angkasa Pura II Cin Asmoro in a written statement on Monday, June 24, 2024.

The six airports are Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport in Palembang, Minangkabau Airport in Padang, Kualanamu Airport in Deli Serdang, Kertajati Airport in Majalengka, and Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport in Aceh.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport,  Indonesia’s largest and busiest airport, started serving returning Hajj pilgrims from Saudi Arabia from June 22 to July 22, 2024. "The total number of arriving Hajj pilgrims at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport reached 128 flights,” said Cin.

Cin ensured that all relevant airport personnel, from AP II and other agencies such as Customs, Immigration, Quarantine, and Health Centers, as well as ground handling and airlines, were ready to welcome the arrival of Hajj pilgrims at Terminal 2F of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Meanwhile,  Hajj pilgrims from Lampung who arrived at Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta Airport will head to Terminal 3 and await their departure home.

Meanwhile, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport in Palembang welcomed returning Hajj pilgrims from June 23  to July 15, 2024. In total, 19 flights are slated to arrive at this airport.

Minangkabau Airport in Padang will serve 17 returning flights from Saudi Arabia over the period of June 24 to July 13. Meanwhile, Kualanamu Airport in Deli Serdang serves returning Hajj pilgrims from June 24 to July 21, 2024, with scheduled 25 flights. 

Hajj pilgrims started arriving at Kertajati Airport in Majalengka from June 23 to July 22, 2024, over 30 scheduled flights. Lastly, Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport in Aceh will serve and welcome a total of 12 Hajj pilgrims on flights from July 10 to 22, 2024.

Cin said the six airports had prepared everything needed to serve and welcome returning Hajj pilgrims. "Operational plans have been readied including the arrival flow of Hajj pilgrims, aircraft operations at the airport, and baggage delivery to the Hajj dormitories, which of course note the aspects of security, safety, and compliance with all regulations," said Cin Asmoro.
