TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) welcomed the investment plans of SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. AHY stated that his ministry was ready to clear up the land for Elon’s investment purposes.
According to AHY, land rights are often disputed for convoluted and unclear administrative processes. "We don't want that to happen. So, we are fixing the administration, including permits," said AHY in Bali, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, quoted from a written statement.
AHY said the most crucial thing in investment is doing it by the rules since investment is conducted for the sake of economic growth. Therefore, Indonesia must gain the optimal benefit from incoming investments.
Regarding Elon Musk's investment plans, the billionaire launched the Starlink internet service at the Sumerta Kelod Public Health Center in Bali, on Sunday. Most recently, Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said Elon Musk was considering investing in electric vehicle batteries in Indonesia.
Luhut also claimed that Elon Musk was still studying the possibility of his company building a launch pad in Indonesia and becoming the board member of an artificial intelligence project in Indonesia, namely Eureka AI. “Eureka AI will later collaborate with Grok AI. He (Elon Musk) is willing to be part of the board at Eureka," said Luhut.
