Jokowi: The Govt Respects Court Ruling on Election Dispute

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi responded to the Constitutional Court (MK) verdict which rejected all claims in the presidential election dispute. The President emphasized that the government respects the final and binding decision of the court.
"The government respects the Constitutional Court's decision which is final and binding," said the President in a statement received by Tempo on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
The president said various accusations against the government had been declared unproven, including fraud, intervention, politicization of social assistance, mobilization of officials, to the non-neutrality of regional heads, "This is what is important for this government."
According to Jokowi, the current external and geopolitical factors put pressure on countries all over the world. "It's time to unite, work together to develop our country," he said.
Jokowi also stated that the government would support the transition process from the current administration to the next one. This process will be carried out after the General Elections Commission (KPU) officially declared the elected president and vice president of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court rejected the petition for presidential election dispute submitted by candidate pair number 01 Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, and candidate pair number 03 Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud Md. Chief Constitutional Justice Suhartoyo delivered the verdict at the Constitutional Court Building, Central Jakarta, Monday, April 22, 2024
Even so, the vote was not unanimous. Three judges delivered their dissenting opinions during the decision hearing, namely Saldi Isra, Arief Hidayat, and Enny Nurbaningsih.
