TEMPO.CO, Solo - Vice-president elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka responded to the Constitutional Court’s ruling that rejected in full the presidential election dispute petition submitted by the losing candidate pairs, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md.
The eldest son of President Joko Jokowi Widodo said that he was awaiting further instructions from President-elect Prabowo Subianto on the next steps to be taken.
“We are waiting for Pak Prabowo’s directions from now on,” Gibran said at the Solo City Hall, in Central Java, after the Constitutional Court finished reading its decision on Monday, April 22.
Gibran denied when asked whether the outcome of the election dispute hearings could have been predicted in advance. He also refused to comment regarding the petition. “That’s the authority of the Constitutional Court. Again, I don't have the right to have an opinion on that.”
Asked whether he and Prabowo would invite the losing candidates to join the government, Gibran said that such a decision is in Prabowo's hands. “Everything is waiting for Pak Prabowo’s instructions. We’ll update it later,” he said.
Gibran slightly revealed that they had designed a plan for the next government. However, he refrained from elaborating on it to reporters. “It won’t be fun to reveal it now. Let’s do it later. We are now waiting for Pak Prabowo’s order,” he concluded, emphasizing that he would continue to focus on completing his duties as Solo Mayor.
