TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s President-elect Prabowo Subianto expressed his profound gratitude for the conclusion of the 2024 presidential election dispute process at the Constitutional Court (MK) on Monday, April 22.
The Constitutional Court, in its verdict hearing on Monday, completely dismissed the challenges filed by losing candidates, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, in the dispute over the vote count results for the 2024 Presidential Election by the General Elections Commission (KPU).
In a statement at his official residence in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Monday, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to all communities and elements involved, including the organizers, that the legal process at the Constitutional Court had been passed.
“We are now, of course, making preparations to face the future,” Prabowo said.
He stopped short of elaborating further on his statement, but the Defense Minister confirmed that the KPU would declare him the President-elect on Wednesday.
In their separate petitions, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, asked the Constitutional Court to annul the KPU Decree on the victory of Prabowo-Gibran, who secured 92,214,691 votes.
In Monday’s verdict, the Constitutional Court ruled that there was insufficient and inconclusive evidence. The decision, however, was not unanimous among all the judges. The three dissenting judges were Saldi Isra, Arief Hidayat, and Enny Nurbaningsih.
