TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirNav Indonesia said the information about a low-flying plane that crashed into the waters of Bengga Nagekeo, between Bajawa and Ruteng in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, was fake news or a hoax.
"AirNav Indonesia, as the state-owned company that manages air traffic services, can conclude that the report is not true or a hoax," AirNav Indonesia corporate secretary Hermana Soegijantoro said on Monday, April 22.
At the time of his statement, Hermana said that the Kupang branch of AirNav's area of operation had ensured that all aircraft operating within the Kupang branch's jurisdiction were operating normally.
"The Kupang branch has also coordinated with the FIC Bali sector and it has been confirmed that there is no indication that any aircraft has been involved in an accident," he said.
Hermana added that Lion Air had also contacted AirNav Indonesia's Kupang branch and informed them that all aircraft were operating normally.
"AirNav Indonesia's Ruteng unit continues to monitor developments in search of the truth of the news by establishing communication and coordination with KP3U Ruteng Police," Hermana said.
