TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas confirmed that the state civil apparatus or ASN will move to the new capital city, known as IKN, in September this year. The relocation will be done in stages, with at least 11,916 employees being prioritized in the first batch of the move to East Kalimantan.
“However, the transfer will depend on the availability of housing and infrastructure,” he said in a press conference at the Kominfo office in Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, April 17.
The second batch will consist of 6,000 state apparatuses, while the third batch will have 14,000 civil servants. The ministry would keep coordinating with the IKN Authority.
The state apparatus was expected to take part in the Independence Day ceremony at IKN on August 17, 2024. Thus, the relocation will take place in stages in September 2024. Meanwhile, several ministers will begin moving in July 2024.
Each ASN, Anas reiterated, will receive special benefits, such as packing costs, waiting or transit accommodation costs in Balikpapan, and transportation costs. Married ASNs will be provided with an apartment to live with their families, while unmarried ASNs will share a housing unit with two others. The government will cover the costs for the spouse, two children, and one household assistant.
The government aims to build 47 housing units in IKN this year, with 29 units for ASN and 18 units for Indonesian military (TNI) and police personnel. The 98-square-meter apartment will have 60 units.
