'Mudik' Return Flow; Over 58,000 Vehicles Entered Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian police said 58,091 vehicles entered Jakarta on April 15, the peak of the "mudik" return flow. This is higher than the number of vehicles that left the capital for the annual Eid homecoming tradition, which was recorded at 49,378 units.
Sr. Comr. Harry Goldenhardt of the National Police Public Relations Division said on Tuesday that these vehicles enter Jakarta through five main toll gates; Cikupa Utama, Merak, Cikampek Utama, Kalihurip Utama, Ciawi Utama.
According to official police data, the volume of vehicles entering Jakarta through the Cikupa Utama toll gate reached 17,552 units, while those leaving Jakarta reached 15,769 vehicles. Through the Merak Toll Gate, 7,616 vehicles have entered Jakarta so far, while 4,251 units have left.
Cikampek Utama Toll Gate so far recorded the entry of 8,587 vehicles against 8,417 units leaving, while Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate recorded 11,496 entries and 10,421 exits.
At the Ciawi Utama Toll Gate, 12,940 vehicles entered Jakarta at the peak of the return flow, while 10,620 had left.
