TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information (Kominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi disclosed that Apple CEO, Tim Cook, was scheduled to visit Indonesia on April 17 with plans to meet with President Joko Jokowi Widodo.
However, he refrained from elaborating on the agenda of the meeting. “What's on the agenda? [We’ll announce it] later. It’s a surprise,” Budi Arie said at the Kominfo Building on Tuesday, April 16.
He did reveal, however, that the meeting will center around Apple's investment plans in the country. “It will be announced that [Apple] will invest here,” he added.
In addition to Apple, Budi Arie claimed that nearly all major companies from the United States and other global firms will make significant investments in Indonesia. He said this is because Indonesia has a magnet that can attract the world's top IT companies.
“The Microsoft boss will also come, that's good, right? Our country is sexy, isn't it,” he remarked.
He emphasized that the Kominfo ministry would be open and supportive of the investment plans.
Previously, Budi Arie had announced that Apple would set up more Apple Academies in Indonesia, particularly in Bali, after the existing ones in BSD Tangerang and Batam.
