Ganjar and Mahfud MD to Meet Megawati Next Week

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential candidate pair number 03, Ganjar Pranowo - Mahfud Md, is scheduled to meet with the Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri, next week.

"Next Sunday, because tomorrow is a holiday. Usually, on Saturdays and Sundays, Bu Megawati also has personal activities, sports, and so on," said the General Secretary of PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, in Jakarta on Friday, April 12, 2024.

In addition, Hasto said that Megawati is also scheduled to invite several experts in the fields of economics, social sciences, and history. According to Hasto, this activity is routinely carried out by the party's chairwoman.

The purpose, according to Hasto, is to update the political repertoire in the life of the nation and state.

"So, not only talking about politics in the sense of democracy, power, politics for the people, but also talking about learning from history and our responsibilities for the future," Hasto explained.

The Ganjar-Mahfud pair had previously participated in the 2024 Presidential Election endorsed by a coalition of PDIP, PPP, Perindo, and Hanura parties. Based on the General Election Commission (KPU) determination, this pair received 16.5 percent of the votes, ranking last among the three presidential contenders.

Subsequently, the pair filed a dispute over the election results with the Constitutional Court (MK). They are currently awaiting the MK's decision, which will be announced on April 22, 2024.
