TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesperson of the Anies-Muhaimin National Campaign Team (Timnas) Billy David Nerotumilena, responded to the possibility of Anies Baswedan and the president-elect Prabowo Subianto meeting in an effort towards political reconciliation. "There hasn't been any direction towards that [meeting]," Billy said when contacted on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
According to Billy, at the moment, Anies does not want to cloud the meaning of the Eid al-Fitr holiday with such speculations. Additionally, Billy stated that the momentum of the presidential election dispute trial at the Constitutional Court is still ongoing. "So we have to respect that as well," he added.
The spokesperson for AMIN also mentioned that a meeting between Anies and Prabowo requires careful political calculation. "Such a meeting certainly needs careful political calculation and intense discussions with many parties."
It is known that the Constitutional Court (MK) has completed the examination trial session in the case of the dispute over the 2024 presidential election results on Friday, April 5, 2024. Before delivering its verdict on Monday, April 22, MK will hold a formal judges' consultation meeting on April 16, 2024.
Meanwhile, for now, the constitutional judges are conducting comprehensive deliberations on the results of the trial sessions held from March 27 to April 5, 2024.
In the last presidential election dispute trial, MK summoned four ministers from President Jokowi's cabinet as witnesses regarding allegations of the politicization of social assistance in the 2024 presidential election dispute. The ministers present were Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, and Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini.
The 2024 presidential election dispute involves two petitioners, namely 01 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar as the first petitioner and 03 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD as the second petitioner. Both parties filed similar lawsuits, namely disqualifying candidate pair number 02, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and requesting a repeat of the presidential election without that pair.
The allegation of the politicization of social assistance is one of the main points in the presidential election dispute lawsuit filed by the Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud pairs to the Constitutional Court (MK). The lawsuits are registered under case No. 1/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024 filed by the 01 Anies-Muhaimin camp, and case No. 2/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024 filed by the 03 Ganjar-Mahfud camp.
