TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk recorded 1,039,018 vehicles leaving the Greater Jakarta area between April 3 and 7, one week to three days before this year's Eid.
Faiza Riani, head of marketing and communications at Jasa Marga, said this figure was the cumulative figure for traffic flow from four barrier/main toll gates, namely Cikupa, Ciawi, Cikampek Utama and Kalihurip Utama.
"The total volume of traffic leaving the Greater Jakarta area increased by 51.77 percent compared to the normal traffic of 684,610 vehicles and increased by 6.7 percent compared to Eid 2023 of 973,804 vehicles," Faiza said in a written statement on Monday, April 8.
Faiza said the traffic distribution was dominated towards the east (Trans Java and Bandung) with 605,689 vehicles or 58.29 percent coverage. "This figure has increased by 111.16 percent compared to normal traffic," he said.
Faiza reminds travelers to make sure they are well prepared before traveling. From making sure they have enough fuel and credit on their electronic money, to making sure their vehicles are in good shape and drivers are in optimal condition.
"Avoid traveling at times that are predicted to be the peak for homecoming departures and returns, and avoid traveling at popular times such as after Sahoor or Iftar," Faiza said.
He also reminded road users to obey traffic signs and instructions traffic police, and to follow regulations when driving on toll roads.
"Use your time wisely by not staying too long at the rest area and always implement health protocols," Faiza said.
