TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The state-owned toll road operator, PT Jasa Marga, informed that 807,510 vehicles left the Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabotabek or Greater Jakarta) areas on D-7 to D-4 of the 2024 Eid al-Fitr (Eid Day) or from April 3 to 6, 2024.

The head of Marketing and Communication Department of Jasa Marga, Faiza Riani, on Sunday, April 7, 2024, said that the figure was the cumulative value of traffic flow from the four main toll gates (GT), namely GT Cikupa (to Merak), GT Ciawi (to Puncak), GT Cikampek Utama (to Trans Java), and GT Kalihurip Utama (to Bandung).

The total traffic volume leaving the Jabotabek area increased by 41.73 percent compared to normal traffic or 569,735 vehicles. When compared to the previous Eid homecoming, the 2024's total traffic volume was 12.97 percent higher or an increase of 714,794 vehicles.

Riani mentioned that the distribution of traffic leaving Jabotabek was separated in three directions, namely the majority of 462,710 vehicles or 57.30 percent were heading east (Trans Java and Bandung), 209,582 vehicles or 25.95 percent were heading west (Merak), and 135,218 vehicles or 16.75 percent were heading to the south (Puncak).

The trend of increasing vehicle flow up to D-4 occurred on the eastbound toll road via GT Cikampek Utama on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, she added.

"Until now, we recorded the highest traffic volume during the D-7 to D-5 of Eid which occurred on D-4 amounting to 122,607 vehicles, an increase of 321.69 percent from normal traffic, or an increase of 25.44 percent compared to 2023 Eid homecoming in the same period," she stated.

Until this information was released, one-way traffic engineering is still implemented at the discretion of the Police to support the smooth flow of homecoming traffic starting from KM 72 Cikampek (Cipali Toll Road) to KM 414 GT Kalikangkung, Batang-Semarang Toll Road, Riani remarked.

In addition, a two-lane contraflow traffic engineering is still being implemented on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road starting from KM 47 to KM 70 GT Cikampek Utama.
