TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police have prepared two helicopters to function as air ambulances to deal with the Eid homecoming and return traffic this year. These two air ambulances from the Air Police Directorate will be dispatched as part of the police’s Ketupat Operation 2024.
Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, head of the police's public relations office, said that the air ambulance will be responsible for evacuating homecomers who require medical assistance to the nearest hospital.
“It can be used, for example, in areas such as Merak, Bakauheni, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, or other areas that need it,” Trunoyudo said in an official statement, on Wednesday, April 3.
The former spokesman of the Metro Jaya Police added that the employment of air ambulances is one of the preventive and preemptive measures taken to anticipate incidents that require prompt action.
He confirmed that the police have coordinated with various hospitals to accommodate the air ambulances. These include Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, RSCM, Pertamina Hospital, Siloam Hospital, Cengkareng Regional Hospital, Medistra Hospital, Soekanto Police Hospital, Koja Regional Hospital, EMC Cempaka Putih Hospital, and hospitals in all areas along the Eid homecoming route.
Each helicopter will have three crew members and two medical personnel, who will be on standby at locations that require assistance as instructed by the Police Traffic Unit Command Center.
