TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy predicts that the economic turnover in the tourism and creative economy sector during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr holiday will reach Rp276.11 trillion.
This estimation is in line with the Ministry of Transportation’s projection of citizen movements for Eid homecoming. The figure is expected to increase from 123.8 million people in Eid 2023 to 193.6 million people in Eid al-Fitr this year.
Deputy for Strategic Studies Dessy Ruhati said there are three provinces with the largest domestic tourist arrivals, namely Central Java with around 61.6 million people, East Java with 37.6 million people, and West Java with 32 million people.
"Based on the studies we are conducting and continuing, this Eid momentum can boost national economic growth in the first and second quarters by around 5 percent," Dessy said in Jakarta, Monday, April 1, 2024.
This, said Dessy, was indicated by two main factors; increased consumption and community movement. She said that the increase in public consumption was influenced by the number of cash needed, which increased by 4.65 percent compared to last year.
"The government also disbursed social assistance until June 2024 and direct cash assistance which was distributed from January to March 2024," said Dessy.
The next supporting factor, according to Dessy, is the policy of providing a 100 percent religious holiday bonus for the state civil apparatus (ASN). Meanwhile, the increase in community movement is supported by the joint leave policy from April 8 to 15, 2024.
