TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo hopes that the Indonesian badminton contingent gives their maximum performance in the race for tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"We urge all athletes, especially badminton, who are participating in the Paris Olympic qualifications to give their best, we will continue to support [the athletes] to win," Dito said in Tangerang on Tuesday.
According to Minister Dito, the Ministry of Youth and Sports targets gold in the upcoming Paris Olympics. “We are aiming for gold in the Paris Olympics,” he said.
In terms of quality, especially badminton athletes who have won the All England tournament, are optimistic that they can compete in the Olympics.
Minister Dito appreciated the struggle and hard work of all athletes who had brought victory back to the country at the All England 2024 tournament.
"We express our highest appreciation to the Indonesian team for the achievement at the All England tournament. And the important thing is that we can do better with a measured preparation, our targets could be higher,” he said.
Previously, Indonesian badminton athletes Jonatan Christie, Fajar Alfian, Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who had competed in the All England 2024 tournament in Birmingham arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Monday evening.
Their arrival was welcomed directly by the Secretary of the Indonesian Badminton Association Central Board (PP PBSI) M Fadil Imran, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, and his staff.
