TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - General Manager of Meorient Exhibition International, Larissa Zhou, said a number of Chinese companies expressed interest in investing in Indonesia after attending the China Homelife exhibition at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. The equipment and furniture exhibition was held from Wednesday, March 13, 2024, to Saturday, March 16, 2024, and was attended by 400 Chinese and local manufacturers.
They displayed various products in three exhibitions with different themes, namely the Building and Decoration Expo (BDExpo), Appliances and Electronic Show (AES), HomeLife Expo, Decoration and Furniture Expo (Defu), and International Textile Expo (Intex). Larissa claimed tens of thousands of people visited the exhibition.
"Within four days of the exhibition, we received many requests about plans to move factories from China to Indonesia," said Larissa Zhou in a written statement received by Tempo on Sunday, March 17, 2024.
She pointed out that companies interested in opening factories in Indonesia are manufacturers of aluminum windows and doors, as well as plastic product companies.
The exhibition was aimed at promoting sustainable bilateral trade and cooperation between China and Indonesia since this year’s exhibition also featured local participants. "For this reason, we also held a business forum for those who want to sell products to China," said Larissa.
"Many felt that this exhibition had a big impact on developing their business," she said.
Previously, according to Larissa, many business actors in Indonesia did not have connections with manufacturers in China. Distance, time, and cost contributed to this situation Thus, the exhibition provided them with the opportunity to meet directly with manufacturers or first-hand suppliers.
Meorient, according to Larissa, is committed to helping local producers expand to other countries, especially China. The exhibition is scheduled for another session on June 4 to 7, 2024, at the same location.
