TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia emphasized active and fair participation of all Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) partner countries in implementing the cooperation framework, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said.

"Indonesia focuses on the operationalization of IPEF agreements by emphasizing active and fair participation for all IPEF participating countries," Hartarto said in the ministry's statement on Sunday.

In the IPEF virtual ministerial meeting which took place on Thursday (March 14), he said Indonesia welcomed the plan of the IPEF agreement signing.

He explained that the IPEF agreement signing, which will take place in Singapore in June 2024, includes the Pillar III related to clean energy and Pillar IV on the fair economy.

The Indonesian Government also praised the three workshops proposed by the United States. The workshops served as follow-up initiatives to IPEF's Pillar IV.

Meanwhile, United States Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo expressed her appreciation to all IPEF partner countries for having completed the IPEF negotiations in just two years.

She also appreciated the active participation of partner countries in the four new Cooperative Work Programs (CWPs), namely the carbon market, clean electricity, just transition, and sustainable aviation fuel development.

In addition, Raimondo conveyed the importance of sustaining IPEF commitment with partner countries, not only the Pillar III and Pillar IV, but also the Pillar II regarding supply chains.

At the same meeting, Singapore's Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong invited the governments and private representatives of IPEF partner countries to attend the Clean Economy Investor Forum in June 2024.

The forum is expected to facilitate investment cooperation in the field of clean economy among IPEF partner countries.
