Sandiaga Uno Holds Discussion with Creative Economy Players in Jambi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, on Sunday, held a conversation with creative economy players in Jambi City to discuss the potential and opportunities for business development in the local area.
"This visit (aimed to) strengthen the creative economy ecosystem in Jambi City. This discussion presents the potential and opportunities of which businesses that can be opened here," Uno remarked during the "Kelana Nusantara" event here on Sunday.
He said there are several creative economy sub-sectors that have developed rapidly in Jambi City including culinary, handcrafts, fashion, and film.
He hoped that the discussion with the creative economy players could result in new ideas and knowledge that will be used to develop themselves.
On that occasion, he also advised them to collaborate with the government, academicians, business people and communities.
"Don't just compete in terms of price but how to collaborate with local policymakers to innovate," he said.
Meanwhile, Jambi Governor Al Haris said Minister Uno's visit had motivated the creative economy actors in Jambi City.
"Jambi is actively elevating micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including creative economy actors. Many young people can develop their businesses. In Jambi, there is a millennial business community so that young people become entrepreneurs," he explained.
He added, there is also the creative economy community for women, which goal is to increase the people's welfare.
Jambi Acting Mayor Sri Purwaningsih said the creative economy sector is one of the regional original revenue sources for the city so that efforts are needed to increase its potential.
"Jambi City does not have much natural tourism but the creative economy helps lift the Jambi City regional original revenue," she said.
