TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno stated that his ministry had managed to achieve several targets set for 2023. One of them was the added value of the creative economy, which exceeded the target of Rp1,300 trillion.
“The added value of our creative economy has exceeded Rp1,414.77 trillion,” he said in a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission X on March 13, as quoted from his statement.
He said the achievement showed that the creative economy is the locomotive of Indonesia's future economy.
According to him, nearly 50 million workers had been generated from the tourism and creative industries. “There are 24.41 million tourism workers and 24.92 million creative economy workers.”
Although the value added to the creative economy in 2023 has exceeded the target, Sandiaga said that there was still homework to be done on the export value of the creative economy. He believed that there are greater opportunities for the export of the creative economy.
“We are targeting the contribution of the creative economy sector, especially from the export side, to reach 25 to 28 billion US dollars this year in order to encourage the creation of business opportunities and job creation for the community,” said Sandiaga Uno at the opening of the Export Class of the Indonesian Creation Appreciation (AKI) on Friday, March 1, 2024.
