TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Passengers of Light Rail Transit or LRT Jabodebek are allowed to break their fast with light snacks and drinks inside the train during the month of Ramadan.
Mahendro Trang Bawono, LRT’s Public Relations Manager, said that this policy would be implemented starting from the first day of Ramadan which falls on Tuesday, March 12.
“This policy is an act of tolerance towards users who are performing religious services so that they can freely break their fast in the middle of the journey at the time of breaking the fast and for one hour afterward,” Mahendro highlighted in a written statement.
Concurrent with this implementation, officers will inform passengers when the time to break the fast arrives.
He also appealed to passengers to maintain order, cleanliness, and comfort on train trips by refraining from bringing strong-smelling food and heavy meals. “And to keep used food waste and dispose of it at the destination station,” Mahendro added.
According to him, officers will alternately provide free takjil or light snacks and free drinks at several stations in Jabodetabek or the Greater Jakarta area.
During Ramadan, Mahendro confirmed that the operational services of LRT Jabodebek will run as usual with 307 trips on weekdays and 206 trips on weekends, public holidays, and national holidays.
