TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecast that Jakarta is likely to witness a significant downpour of rainfall starting this afternoon, February 15. In the evening, the whole city area will be drenched by rain.
According to the agency's latest weather forecast, the Thousand Islands have already experienced a light drizzle from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. this morning, while Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and West Jakarta are shrouded by cloudy skies, with South Jakarta and East Jakarta experiencing partly sunny weather.
The precipitation in the Thousand Islands is expected to gradually subside around 1 pm, and be replaced by cloudy weather. Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, and South Jakarta are likely to remain under the veil of overcast skies until the afternoon. Meanwhile, North Jakarta and West Jakarta are expected to experience a renewed spell of rainfall.
Rain is expected to soak almost the entire capital area from 1 pm to 7 pm. According to the agency, East Jakarta and South Jakarta will experience heavier rain than Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, West Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands.
The BMKG recorded that the air temperature in Jakarta will hover between 25-32 degrees Celsius with an air humidity level of around 75-95 percent. “The wind is blowing from west to northwest at a speed of 5-20 kilometers per hour,” the agency said.
