TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on Wednesday expressed her hope that the elected president and the administration would remain steadfast on Indonesia’s basic principles in foreign politics to continue the diplomacy it managed to achieve so far.
For Minister Retno, whoever becomes the next foreign minister is expected to maintain the principles of Indonesian diplomacy, including the free and active principle and the spirit of the Bandung Declaration, which brought respect for Indonesia on the world stage. With these principles, she said, Indonesia was able to play the role of a bridge builder, proven by its G20 Presidency and its time as Chair of ASEAN
The Foreign Ministry, with its stable ecosystem, is ready and committed to continuing to support the next administration in carrying out diplomatic duties.
Apart from that, Minister Retno Marsudi also hoped that the next leader would be able to bring Indonesia forward to achieve the Golden Indonesia by 2045 and always prioritize social interest.
The presidential election is participated by three running pairs, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD. The vote recapitulation will be carried out from Feb. 15 to March 20, 2024, in accordance with KPU Regulation No. 3 of 2022.
