TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Election Commission (KPU) has set the schedule for the second round of the 2024 presidential election. The coordinator of the KPU Technical Division, Idham Holik, said it was stipulated in the KPU Regulation No. 3 of 2022 in order to comply with legal requirements.
“Regarding the schedule for the 2024 General Election, we have outlined it in the KPU Regulation (PKPU) No. 3 of 2022. As ordered by the law, we have to prepare a draft schedule and stages for the two-round presidential election,” Idham said in Jakarta on January 11, as quoted from Antara.
Indonesia is all set to hold the simultaneous general elections, including the presidential election, on February 14. Three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are in the race. They are Anies Baswedan - Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto - Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo - Mahfud Md.
The election may proceed to a runoff if no candidate secures more than 50 percent of the popular votes nationwide and at least 20 percent in more than half of the provinces in Indonesia or 20 provinces to win the race.
According to the PKPU No. 3/2022, the draft schedule for the second round of the presidential election is as follows:
- May 17 - June 12, 2024
Voter data update
- June 2-22, 2024

- June 26-27, 2024

However, Idham emphasized that the timeline is tentative and highly dependent on the outcomes of the February 14 voting day.
