TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Papua Prosecutor's Office gathered ten prosecutors as state attorneys for the General Elections Commission (KPU) in case of lawsuits concerning the upcoming election. The statement was relayed by the chief Harli Siregar on Tuesday in Manokwari, as cited by Antara.
Harli also instructed prosecutor offices across West Papuan regencies to prepare state attorneys for KPU. "In principle, the prosecutor's office will support KPU in case of lawsuits about the upcoming elections," he said.
In addition, the West Papua Prosecutor's Office along with KPU and Bawaslu at the provincial level have signed an integrity pact to ensure the quality of general elections grant budget management in the province.
"Corruption usually emerged at a later time, hence cooperation [between KPU, Bawaslu, and the prosecutor's office] is important for preventive measures," Harli said.
According to the chief, the general elections grant by the local government amounted to Rp500 billion.
The grant must produce an accurate report, as the result will be audited by relevant agencies. "The receiver of general elections grant based on the State Budget or Local Government Budget must provide an accountability report," Harli concluded.
