TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Alms Agency (Baznas) Noor Achmad stated that the Indonesian agency is still open to receiving donations for Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip amid unwavering trust placed on it by several institutions.

"We will continue to welcome donations for Palestine since the people and various institutions, including ministries, are still requesting that their donations be entrusted to Baznas," he remarked during the 23rd Anniversary commemoration of Baznas in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Achmad revealed that Baznas had collected and delivered humanitarian assistance from domestic and international partners for Palestine, with the total value reaching hundreds of billions of rupiah, adding that the alms agency will continue to distribute aid they collect.

He remarked that Baznas is planning to distribute continued humanitarian assistance in all three stages of the raging armed conflict in Palestine's Gaza Strip. The phases involve emergency response, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.

Considering that Israel is still carrying out aggression, aid will be distributed under the emergency response phase.

"We would like to tell our partners that have been placing their trust in Baznas that we are targeting to distribute assistance of Rp250 billion (around US$16 million) to Palestine," he pointed out.

In addition to collecting donations, he remarked that Baznas has continued to strengthen collaboration with international philanthropic partners to facilitate the distribution of humanitarian aid to people in the besieged Gaza.

"Despite facing restrictions placed by Israel, we will always find ways to get through Gaza to deliver the aid," he stressed.

He then extended his gratitude to the partners of Baznas for their trust in the philanthropic agency to distribute humanitarian aid, making it known by the international community.

"I believe that Baznas has been well-known not only by Indonesians but also by the international community for helping Palestine," he remarked.
