TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Instagram account of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud Md at @mohmafudmd seemed different this afternoon. On its last post, Mahfud, the vice presidential candidate number 3 alongside Ganjar Pranowo, shared a short video of him during a live on TikTok.
However, at around 4 p.m. local time, the account seemingly uploaded a short captioned reel in a foreign language.
In a less than 10-second reel, a number of soldiers donning Israel Defense Force uniforms were playing with a soccer ball. The caption was posted in Hebrew.
Special staff of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Rizal Mustary confirmed that the Instagram account of Mahfud Md has been hacked. Rizal mentioned that his side has been trying to recover the account.
"As of now, Mahfud Md's Instagram account has been hacked by outside parties. This situation has been occurring since this afternoon, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, and recovery measures are being conducted. Every post and direct message from Mahfud's account was not him at the time," Rizal in a press release on Tuesday afternoon.
