TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Jakarta reported it has not received any reports on alleged violations concerning the LED display Videotron of presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan.
"We have not received any information [on alleged violations]," said Bawaslu Coordinator of Legal, Education, and Training Division Sakhroji when called on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Previously, the Videotron project containing short ads of Anies Baswedan was taken down quicker than agreed. So far, the reason for the sudden take-down of the ads remains unknown.
The initiator of the advertisement was one of Anies' supporter base, the Olppaemi Project. They claimed that they do not represent K-pop fans or are affiliated with any campaigning teams.
The K-pop-like ads for Anies Baswedan were up for less than a day on January 15 despite the initial agreement of one week broadcast until January 21, 2024.
Bawaslu Jakarta claimed to have not received any report on alleged violations that could be behind the ads' take-down. "We will check first," Sakhroji said.
Based on Tempo's observation, the medium-sized LED Videotron in front of Graha Mandiri was turned off, clear of any advertisement, Anies Baswedan or otherwise.
Olppaemi Project is currently trying to find the best solution to tackle the issue. Reportedly, the community held a fundraiser to realize the Anies Baswedan Videotron.
