BMKG Releases Early Warning for Rain in Parts of West Java

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG releases an early warning for moderate to heavy rain potential with lightning and strong winds this afternoon to evening in parts of West Java.
Those regions include Depok, Bekasi, Karawang, Subang, Purwakarta, Indramayu, Bogor, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Greater Bandung, Sumedang, and Garut.
Light rain will drizzle over parts of Bogor, Sukabumi, Depok, Cianjur, West Bandung, and Bandung Regency in the morning. Meanwhile, in the afternoon, medium to heavy rain is forecasted to hit parts of Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, Karawang, Greater Bandung, Purwakarta, Subang, Sumedang, Cianjur, Sukabumi, Indramayu, and Garut.
In the evening around 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., light to medium-intensity rain will hit parts of Bogor, Purwakarta, Subang, Majalengka, and Greater Bandung, according to BMKG.
The air temperature ranges from 18 to 35 degrees Celsius with an air humidity level of 60 to 98 percent. The wind moves at 5 to 40 kilometers per hour from the south to the west.
According to the head of the climatology station of BMKG West Java Rakhmat Prasetia, extreme weather of medium to heavy rain would potentially occur in the afternoon.
"It's usually marked by dark and soaring cauliflower-looking clouds or the Cumulonimbus cloud," he said in a written statement on Friday, Jan. 12.
BMKG also warned of potential landslides in mountainous areas, especially with the rain occurring for several consecutive days.
