TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Immigration launched 78 new autogates at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Fifty two of them are located in the arrival terminal, 16 in the departure terminal. There are also 10 new autogates in Terminal 2, five each in the arrival and departure terminals.
"With the autogate facility, immigration checks only take 15-25 seconds for each passenger," said Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Wednesday, January 3.
The autogates, he said, can be used by both Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals.
Slimy added that the autogates integrate facial recognition with Border Control Management (BCM) technologies which support immigration control at borders.
In order to use the autogate, foreign citizens are required to hold an electronic passport and have obtained either an Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) or Electronic Visa (e-Visa), for which they can apply at evisa.imigration.go.id.
Citizens of 10 ASEAN members who are eligible as visa-exempt subjects must register for a waiver or BVK at evisa.imigration.go.id.
Foreign visitors can also scan barcodes provided around Soekarno-Hatta Airport and register via the link provided to be able to use the autogates.
Indonesian nationals with electronic passports or regular (non-electronic) passports can use the autogates.
