TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The third part of the presidential debate series will be held on Jan. 7, 2024, at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta. This debate will once again face the three presidential candidates-Anies Baswedam Prabowo Subianto, and Ganjar Pranowo-on stage.
As decided by the General Elections Commission or KPU, the upcoming debate will discuss the theme of "Defense, Security, International Relations, and Geopolitics".
Concerning security issues, cyber security expert Alfons Tanujaya warned of the rising threat of cyber crimes. According to Alfons, the government must pay close attention to this issue since the governmental agencies responsible for data protection often have their data breached.
"The Indonesian people become the targets of data exploitation," Alfons told Tempo on Wednesday. He also said that cyber security in Indonesia falls under the authorization of relevant agencies such as the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the State Intelligence Agency, and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency.
To anticipate such threats, Alfons said discipline is necessary. "By implementing a proper and disciplined data management, such as ISO 27001, and by prioritizing the young generation to contribute more in digital data management," he said.
Alfons also reminded that presidential candidates must be aware of digital development to utilize the resources owned by Indonesia." Including the demographic bonus and creating manpower that are ready to face and seize opportunities in this rapid digital era," he said.
The second presidential debate will last for 150 minutes with 120 minutes of 6-segment debate and 30 minutes of public service announcements. The event will be live-streamed through the official YouTube channel of KPU and four TV stations, namely MNC, iNews, RCTI, and GTV.
