TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice president candidate number 3 Mahfud MD revealed three strategies planned by Ganjar-Mahfud that would be executed to improve Indonesia’s export performance if he and his running mate Ganjar Pranowo are elected in the 2024 Elections.
“I and Mas Ganjar have long discussed this issue. We have at least three strategies,” said Mahfud MD during the vice presidential candidate debate at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Senayan on Friday, Dec. 22.
First, they will prioritize economic diplomacy. "So the [Indonesian] ambassadors abroad [..] will optimize diplomacy with other countries," he said.
Next, the pairs will integrate national trade into global trade so that it can meet international standards. “So the standard can be accepted. We’ll also form regulation here to prevent our trade from being blocked or reduced,” said Mahfud.
Lastly, Mahfud MD mentioned that he would prioritize the strengthening of the national economy. “So the national economy can grow inward, which will meet with the second strategy, and that the quality of our goods can be accepted abroad and productive."
Friday’s debate was the second of five series of election debates planned by the Election Commission or KPU in the run-up to the presidential election in February 2024.
This second debate was held with the theme of people's economy, digital economy, finance, tax investment, trade, State/ Regional Budget (APBN/APBD) management, infrastructure, and urban areas.
