TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Sweden-Indonesia Sustainability Partnership or SISP held its fourth conference in Jakarta from Dec. 6 to 8, 2023, at Ayana Midplaza Hotel. The conference was focused on four main discussions, namely transportation, energy, health, and the mining industry, reflecting Sweden and Indonesia’s joint commitment to sustainable development.

“The strong partnership between Indonesia and Sweden is pivotal in achieving a sustainable future. By collaborating closely, we can navigate the green transition together and ensure a balance between economic growth and environmental responsibility,” said Ambassador of Sweden to Indonesia Daniel Blockert while inaugurating the conference.

Indonesia and Sweden inked an MoU on sustainable transportation during the conference. The agreement was signed by Indonesian Deputy Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Transportation Rachmat Kaimuddin and Ambassador Daniel Blockert.

Other agreements and MoUs were also presented during the conference, namely the MoU on a Pilot Project using Wave Powerplant in Eastern Indonesia, a strategic partnership for clean water distribution, and an MoU on sustainable infrastructure development.

The conference also highlighted Sweden’s commitment to provide cutting-edge solutions to assist Indonesia in its journey to a greener and more resilient nature, according to the Trade Commissioner of Sweden to Indonesia, Erik Odar.

SISP itself was first inaugurated in 2020 and has since become a place for leaders from government, academia, and the private sector to meet and share experiences in different sectors with the joint theme of sustainability.

“SISP serves as an ideal platform to strengthen sustainable business partnerships between Sweden and Indonesia,” Erick Odair said.
