Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Dubai on Friday to discuss efforts to bring peace to Palestine's Gaza.
"I really expect Norway, as a facilitator of the Oslo Accords, can contribute to finding a solution so that the peace process (in Palestine) can be restarted based on a two-state solution," Jokowi said in a statement received from the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta.
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the World Climate Action Summit of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, the two leaders also discussed cooperation on environmental issues.
2. COP28: Indonesia Committed to Achieve NZE Target Sooner Than 2060
President Joko Widodo or Jokowi reiterated Indonesia's firm commitment to achieving the net-zero emissions (NZE) target sooner than 2060 for the sake of realizing an inclusive economy and emerging as a prosperous and sustainable country.
According to a press statement released in Jakarta on Friday, Widodo made the statement in his speech at the Conference of the Parties 28 (COP28) climate change high-level event in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
In his remarks, he noted that Indonesia has been consistent in investing all-out efforts to reduce the amount of carbon emissions, including by improving the management of the forest and other land use (FoLU) sector and expediting clean energy transition.
3. Anies-Muhaimin Focuses Campaign in Jakarta Today
The running pair of presidential candidates in the 2024 general elections Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar will conduct their fourth day of campaign in Jakarta today, Friday, Dec. 1. Both Anies and Muhaimin are scheduled to attend several events together.
