Indonesia Announces Cost of 2024 Hajj Pilgrimage Raised to Rp 93.4 Million

28 November 2023 15:43 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Indonesian government and the House of Representatives' (DPR) Commission VIII have reached an agreement to increase the cost of the 2024 hajj pilgrimage (BPIH) to Rp93.4 million. This amount includes the hajj travel cost or BIPIH that each pilgrim must pay, which is Rp56 million.

“We have agreed on the average BPIH amount for regular Hajj in 1445 H/2024 M at Rp93,410,286,” the BPIH working committee head and DPR Commission VII deputy head, Abdul Wachid, said at the meeting in Senayan, on Monday, November 27.

Most of the party factions in the House Commission VIII agreed to the hike in the hajj price, except for the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas also confirmed that the next year’s hajj fee would be Rp93,410,286, consisting of BIPIH of Rp56,046,171 and the benefit value of Rp37,364,114.

“The cost paid directly by each Hajj pilgrim is Rp56,046,171 or 60 percent [of BPIH],” Abdul added.

In addition, Minister Yaqut announced that the Ministry of Religious Affairs had come up with a new installment payment scheme to ease the financial burden on would-be pilgrims.

The agreed price for the 2024 hajj was actually lower than the initial plan proposed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which reached Rp105 million per pilgrim.
