TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released a weather forecast for today for the Greater Jakarta areas, which include Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi.
The agency said on its official page that South and East Jakarta will experience light rain in the afternoon and evening. Besides the two areas, Jakarta will see gloomy weather overall.
“Beware of the possibility of rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the afternoon and evening in South and East Jakarta areas,” the agency announced on Tuesday, November 21.
The capital's air temperature would be between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius, with 65 to 95 percent humidity.
Bogor
Heavy rain was forecast for Bogor City and Bogor Regency today.
The weather will be partly overcast in the morning before turning into rain in the afternoon until the early hours of Wednesday. The possibility of thunderstorms is also present.
The air temperature is expected to be 19-33 degrees Celsius with a humidity level of 50-95 percent.
Depok
Depok will likewise be soaked by moderate rain from noon until the early hours of Wednesday. The expected temperature range is 21 to 33 degrees Celsius with a humidity level of 50-95 percent.
Tangerang
Meanwhile, Tangerang City, Tigaraksa of Tangerang Regency, and Serpong of South Tangerang will have partly sunny weather throughout the morning, afternoon, and early hours of Wednesday.
However, there is a chance of moderately intense rain tonight.
In all three places, a temperature of 23–34 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 60–95 percent is forecast.
The agency also issued an early warning of possible thunderstorms in the southern areas of Tangerang and South Tangerang.
Bekasi
Bekasi City and Cikarang in the Bekasi Regency, two of Jakarta's other adjacent regions, will likely have partly sunny mornings followed by light rain in the afternoon, which could last into the early hours of Wednesday.
“Be alert for the possibility of moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds locally and for a short duration between day and night in parts of Bogor Regency and Bogor City, Depok City, Bekasi Regency, and Bekasi City,” the BMKG said.
