Jokowi Visits Former BNPB Chief Doni Monardo at Siloam Hospital

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi visited former head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo who is being treated at Siloam Hospital in Jakarta on Tuesday morning, November 7, 2023.
In a written statement this morning, BNPB's expert staff Egy Massadiah said that President Jokowi was received by Doni Monardo's wife, Santi Monardo, and other family members.
"The President was in the hospital for about 30 minutes," Egy said.
Doni Monardo, who helmed the BNPB from 2019 to 2021 is reportedly ill and has been undergoing intensive treatment in hospital since September 22.
Sworn into office by President Jokowi as head of the BNPB in January 2019, Doni was the man who initiated the formation of the COVID-19 Response Acceleration Task Force which later became the COVID-19 Response Task Force in March 2020.
Doni won the COVID-19 response award from President Jokowi in March 2023 for his Pentahelix strategy in mitigating the pandemic by emphasizing the spirit of mutual cooperation of all resources, covering cooperation between regional governments, local communities, experts and academics, the media and the private sector.
